Occupy Oakland's Port Blockade Creates Rift with Working Americans
Occupy Oakland successfully disrupted operations at the Port of Oakland this week, but their actions further alienate the movement from average American workers.

Occupy Wall Street may be facing evictions and other trip-ups across the nation, but in Oakland the movement is taking matters into its own hands. For the second time in as many months, Occupy Oakland protesters have disrupted the Port of Oakland, preventing truck and worker access to the morning shift this Monday.
This is a bad idea for Occupy protesters for a number of reasons. For one thing, occupying the port means ordinary blue-collar workers can’t show up to work. This risks making enemies out of organized labor and turns a potential alliance between the protesters and unions (such as the Longshoreman’s union) into a feud ......
