- In 2010, net income for the State Railway Group grew by 139%
- The year was closed with record operating income for more than eight billion euro
The Italian group Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) has filed the financial year 2010 with operating revenues, for the first time in history, have exceeded eight billion euro compared to around 7.5 billion euro in previous year. The increase in turnover - said FS - was driven by growth in revenues from traffic.
- Operating expenses decreased to approximately 6.4 billion euro (128 million euro compared to 2009), a reduction - said the company - thanks to a strong start by streamlining the final months of 2006, and ongoing, and interventions designed to re-engineering of the major industrial processes.
- EBITDA has exceeded 1.6 billion euro and EBIT amounted to EUR 508 million, an increase of 73 million in 2009. Net profit totaled EUR 129 million, an increase of 139% on 54 million euro a year earlier.
- The 2010 budget of FS was prepared for the first time according to international accounting standards IAS / IFRS adopted voluntarily by the group.

- RFI - Italian railway network, the management company of the network infrastructure of the group, reported increases in EBITDA and EBIT, respectively, +68.9% and +109.1%, while net profit has increased from nine million of 31 December 2009 to € 92 million at the end of 2010.
- Trenitalia, the company that manages the activities of passenger and freight transport group, has increased its EBITDA and EBIT +11.9% +8.4%. Was also a positive net result: € 73 million, an improvement on 2009 of over € 56 million (at the end of 2006, the loss of the transport companies of the group was equal to 1.989 billion euro).
- FS concluded by noting that these results were obtained in the action of continuing development of both new business and the traditional ones, including through targeted investments that were made while maintaining great attention to the financial position of the company, which has remained virtually unchanged in 2010 compared to 'previous year.
