- Ansaldo STS has received new contracts worth 33 million euros
- Fall under the Framework Agreement with Rio Tinto Iron Ore and include the supply of railway signaling and communications systems
The Italian Ansaldo STS (Finmeccanica group), through its subsidiary Ansaldo STS Australia, has received new contracts worth 45 million Australian dollars (33 million) from the Australian mining group Rio Tinto Iron Ore for the supply of railway systems signaling and communication.
- The Italian company said that it is extremely important for the second contract awarded under the framework contract signed between Ansaldo STS and Rio Tinto Iron Ore November 25, 2010, under which Ansaldo STS will provide railway signaling and communications systems to support of Hope Downs mining project currently underway in the region 4 south-eastern Pilbara in Western Australia.
- Under the framework agreement, Ansaldo STS will provide a five-year program of works to support the major expansion projects and operating efficiency of the Rio Tinto mine in the Pilbara.The schedule of events throughout the period, an estimated at 467 million Australian dollars (340 million), interventions will include engineering, systems integration and supply of technologies to support expansion plans and operational efficiency of Rio Tinto.
- Projects program, which will be made on request, include the introduction of ECP (Electronically Controlled Pneumatic Braking) and advanced signaling systems, train control and communication.
- Ansaldo STS designs and provides solutions for rail signaling and operations of Rio Tinto in Western Australia since 1992.
