- In the port of La Spezia grow containerized freight and decrease bulk
- In the first eight months of 2011 the airport handled 11,638,049 tons of Ligurian goods (-3.2%)
In the first eight months of this year the port of La Spezia has handled 11,638,049 tons of freight, a decrease of 3.2% compared with 12,023,178 tons in the corresponding period of 2010 added up.
- The decline was due to the decrease of the bulk. In the area of the cargo traffic amounted to 778,205 tons, a decrease of 32.3% over the period from January to August of last year mainly due to the decrease in landings of coal to the local Enel 651 tons landed in the period (-26 , 2%). Also down the minerals and other dry bulk cargoes landed. The liquid bulk cargo totaled 1,331,180 tons in total (-16.6%), with 296,334 tons of refined products (-43.3%) and 902,704 tons of liquid gas in import (-11.9%).
- Growing, however, the various goods, a sector in which they were handled 9,528,664 tons, with an increase of 2.7% determined solely by the performance of container traffic.The container traffic in the first eight months of 2011 amounted to 891,396 units from 20 feet (TEUs), an increase of 5.3% over the same period of 2010. The only La Spezia Container Terminal (LSCT) group Contship Italy has recorded a total of 732,437 TEUs handling (+7.1%). Positive was also the trend to Speter, the group's multipurpose terminal handled 75,620 TEUs that Contship (+28.9%), while the terminal in the Gulf of Tarros Group has incurred a decrease of 19.7% to 83,339 TEUs to effect of war and the continuing political uncertainty weighs in Libya, always been an important trading partner of the port of La Spezia.
