The shipowning society South Korean Hanjin Shipping, as they have made the companies Maersk Line and Hapag-Lloyd

of 1° February 2012), has announced a consisting increase of the rates of marine shipments from the Far East to Europe and the Mediterranean that will be applied by next 1° March.-
- The increase for the Asia route (excluded Japan) - Mediterranean Europe North/will be pairs to 700 dollars for container from 20 ' (teu) and to 1.400 dollars for container from 40 ' (feu) of any type. The increase for the route from region IPBC (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka) to the Mediterranean Europe North/will be of 300 dollars for teu and 600 dollars for feu. The increase for the route Asia-West Africa will be of 200 dollars for teu and 400 dollars for feu.

- Moreover from the next 1° April the company will apply to increases for shipments from Japan to the Mediterranean Europe North/pairs to 700 dollars for teu and 1.400 dollars for feu.

- "As evidenced from the most recent course of our activities - Hanjin Shipping has explained - the current hires cannot cover the operating costs of base, least of all the cost of the fuel. Therefore for we it is unavoidable to raise the hires to the aim to maintain to the quality of the service and the reliability of the schedule that they satisfy the requirements of our customers".
