COMPETITION "TAKES OFF" WITH ALITALIA TEAM
The new company will be working at full capacity on 1st
Recently, with the Rome-Paris and Rome-Berlin flights, a new chapter
of the fifty-year-old history of Alitalia began.
Alitalia Team, the Highly Competitive Carrier (HCC) gathering
together the Avianova's whole operative structure wad born.
This autonomous corporate reality, included in a holding system
wholly controlled by Alitalia, is characterized by a high standard
effciency and highly competitive costs.
This corporate model originates from the comparative observation
of the industrial and organization system adopted by the competitors;
it aims at bringing new rules for the use of aircraft and crews
into the corporate system, so as to develop the Group competitive
capacity in the market.
From now onwards Alitalia spa will be the holding company, the
parent company tracing the strategies of a competitive organization
entering on the market with the efficient look of Alitalia Team
and the other operative companies.
On or before 1st April 1997 the new Company will increase
its fleet up to 6 boeing 767s for intercontinental routes, 17
Airbus 321s and 10 MD80s for the short and medium haul routes.
The entity of the Alitalia Team fleet as of 1st April
1997 (33 aircrafts) will make it necessary to employ about 600
Pilots and 900 Cabin Attendants, 150 of whom Chief Cabin Attendants.
Alitalia Team, which will be working at full capacity on 1st
April 1997 in concomitance with the liberalization of the European
skies, will be able to boast a turnover of 700 billion lire in
the first year of activity and close the year with a positive
result. At the beginning, there will be 270 flights a day, which
from next April will become 400.
