- In the Costa Cruises fleet enters the new flagship Costa Fabulous, the largest cruise ship Italian flag
- Built in the shipyard of Fincantieri Marghera Group, involved an investment of about EUR 510 million
 Today in the Marghera shipyard of Fincantieri group of the company Costa Cruises has taken delivery of its new flagship Costa Fabulous that, with a gross tonnage of 114,500 tons, is the largest cruise ship flying the Italian flag.
- Fabulous Coast, which has a capacity of 3,800 passengers, is the fifteenth of the fleet of the cruise. Its construction has committed a total of around 3,000 people directly and another 7,000 industries. Most of the companies that participated in the construction, about 500, are Italian. The total cost of the investment supported by Costa Crociere's new flagship is about 510 million euros.
- On July 2 the new ship will arrive in the port of Trieste for baptism, an event open to the entire city that will involve all the wonderful Piazza Unità d'Italy.The event will be a tribute to Italian identity and beauty, and has been included in the celebrations of the 150 th anniversary of the unification of Italy.
- The first cruise of Costa Fabulous, private viewing of a three-day cruise will depart from Venice on July 4, while for the whole summer 2011, the Costa flagship will offer an eight-day cruises in the eastern Mediterranean with departures from Venice on Sundays, and Bari, on Monday, aimed at Olympia (Greece), Izmir and Istanbul (Turkey), Dubrovnik (Croatia). The next winter, will sail in Costa Fabulous exotic seas of the UAE and Oman by offering one-week cruises departing from Dubai, to visit Muscat (Oman), Fujairah (UAE), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Khasab (Oman ) and Dubai.

- Costa Fabulous is the penultimate of nine new Costa Cruises ships ordered from Fincantieri arriving from 2003 to 2012.The next ship to enter service will be Costa Fascinosa, sister ship of Costa Fabulous, also under construction in Marghera, which will be completed in spring 2012. The brand new Costa ships are part of a plan to expand the fleet of Costa Crociere SpA Group (of which also belong AIDA Cruises and Iberocruceros), which includes 22 ships for a total investment of 9.6 billion euros from 2000 to 2013.
