Port industry perspective (energy)

Mr. Leendert van den Ende (invited)
Shell International / Global Solutions

Many port related environmental issues are emerging at terminal of port industries. The port authorities play an important role in creating the proper framework to operate. The industrial companies have to ensure a solid environmental management scheme. Shell has many facilities in ports around Europe. What kind of differences does Shell encounter in local environmental policy? Where is Shell seeing opportunities to set up new collaborations with port authorities, NGO’s and other industrial parties, to promote and concretise sustainable development, to ensure their ‘license to operate’?

Port industry perspective (food)

Mr. Jack van den Hoek
Cargill Spain

Cargill has been active in Spain since 1960 and today employs about 1,100 people in Cargill Espana, S.A. at 22 locations. Headquarters are located in San Cugat, near Barcelona. Primary activities include animal feed formulation, production and distribution; commodity trading and food ingredient processing and distribution, as well as production of starches, glucose and fructose syrups and apyrogenic dextrose.

City development perspective

Mr. Philip Tidd

An important element in ECOPORTS is the Port-City relationship. For both cities and ports, the limited possibilities to extend often lead to discussions and problems. The experience of DEGW in this field. How can city developers and port developers team up? What kind of difficulties has to be overcome? How is a joint port-city development to be managed?
