The CEO of the German company, Jeroen Eijsink,
explained that "the first months of the year were
extremely demanding for HHLA. At the beginning of 2026 -
specified - an unusually harsh winter, especially in
Hamburg and its surroundings, has significantly limited our
daily operations. At some times, the handling at the
Hamburg container terminal was only possible in
reduced size. Our railway activity has been
affected by cancellations and delays caused by track closures,
Frozen trading and other condition-related issues
meteorological conditions. In addition, the performance of our subsidiary
Metrans railway have been limited by delays in projects
infrastructure, such as in the Hamburg-Berlin corridor and in the
of Elba. These external factors are also reflected in our
quarterly results".
