In the first six months of 2026, Turkish ports handled 279.1 million tons of goods, with an increase of +1.5% on the first half of last year. On the increase, they contributed by the increases in cabotage traffic (37.6 million tons, +16.2%), transit traffic (35.9 million tons, +3.9%) and import traffic (137.6 million tonnes) tons, +1.8%) which more than offset the decline in export traffic (67.9 million tons, -6.9%).

In the first half of this year, the reduction only in rolling stock traffic, which amounted to 6.1 million tons (-3.7%). Solid bulk and liquid, amounting to 80.5 million tonnes respectively (+1.4%) and 84.8 million tonnes (+1.1%), as well as containerized goods, totaling 73.1 million tons (+2.0%) with a container handling of 7,024,951 TEUs (+1.3%), and conventional goods, which amounted to 34.6 million tons (+2.1%).

In the first six months of 2026, total freight traffic alone with Italy it was 23.4 million tons (-2.5%), with only one containerized traffic that was equal to 358,565 TEUs (+14.5%), of which 312,191 TEUs in import-export (+19.7%) and 46,374 TEUs in transit (-11.4%).

In the second half of 2026 alone, Turkey's ports handled a total of 141.7 million tonnes, with a Progression of +3.5% over the same period in 2025, of which 41.8 million tonnes of dry bulk (+8.3%), 40.6 million tonnes of tonnes of liquid bulk (-0.2%), 37.7 million tonnes of containerized goods (+1.5%) made with a handling of containers equal to 3,660,520 TEUs (+2.1%), 18.7 million tons of conventional goods (+7.7%) and 3.1 million tonnes of rolling stock (-0.6%).

In the period April-June of this year, port traffic with Italy was 11.9 million tons (-6.3%), with a single container traffic of 189,323 TEUs (+14.5%), of which 166,438 TEUs in import-export (+24.4%) and 22,885 TEUs in transit (-27.5%).
