C’est qu’entre-temps, l’armement a reconsidéré sa stratégie.
  • “La proposition de directive sur l’accès aux services portuaires est superflue”
    La Green Port Conference 2001 s’est clôturée sur une résolution demandant à la Commission européenne de procéder à une étude “transparante” sur l’organisation et le financement des ports dans Union européenne. La conférence demande en outre à la Commission de formuler des propositions pour une directive portuaire visant entre autres une libéralisation totale et une séparation de la gestion et des opérations portuaires proprement dites, à l’instar de la directive européenne sur les chemins de fer. La Green Port Conference plaide en outre pour un contrôle sur l’application uniforme des aides et des conditions de concurrence pour les ports de l’UE. Le président de la conférence, l’europarlementaire Theo Bouwman (Ecologistes), qui a exposé ces conclusions finales, a en outre souligné qu’une distinction entre “public et commercial” et entre infrastructure et superstructure portuaire est souhaitable dans le cas d’un financement public, la superstructure devant être exclue d’un financement par les autorités.

    Environ une année après le lancement effectif des premières activités, a eu lieu hier l’inauguration officielle de Marpobel, l’installation portuaire de réception de déchets d’exploitation des navires et des résidus construit à la quatrième darse portuaire à hauteur du quai 261 sur l’ancien site de 9 ha de l’entreprise de réparation navale Mercantile. Cette installation - “l’unique installation portuaire de réception de déchets full-service en Belgique” - a impliqué un investissement de plus de 17 millions d’EUR (environ 700 mio. de BEF). Marpobel peut entreposer, épurer et traiter quasiment tous les déchets de la navigation maritime, fluviale et de l’industrie. L’entreprise est également en mesure de nettoyer des cales, des wagons-citernes, des containers-citernes et des wagons ferroviaires. Marpobel mise sur un break-even en 2002.
