Le thème de cette journée - “L’hinterland, la mobilité et la logistique dans un contexte européen” - reflétait les grandes préoccupations du moment.
  • Les résultats trimestriels n’indiquent aucune baisse de la demande de transport
    Plusieurs grands groupes de transport et de logistique européens ont publié leurs résultats financiers pour le premier trimestre. Ils indiquent que la baisse redoutée de la demande de transport et de logistique ne s’est pas (encore) manifestée. Les chiffres demeurent excellents, même si l’on ne tient compte que de la croissance organique. L’optimisme règne donc, de sorte que certains responsables déclarent maintenant déjà que les résultats de 2001 égaleront au moins ceux de 2000.
  • La répartition modale peut évoluer rapidement
    L’expérience avec l’Europaterminal à Anvers démontre que des prévisions concernant la répartition modale sont parfois rapidement dépassées par les faits. Pour la construction du Westerschelde Container Terminal (WCT) à Flessingue, Hessenatie tient dès lors compte d’une capacité maximum pour les différents modes de transport. “Un manutentionnaire doit toujours être en mesure de faire face à des glissements dans la répartition modale. Car adapter un terminal dans une phase ultérieure est difficile et coûteux”, a expliqué Steven Bouckaert, le project manager de Hessenatie Consult, lors du Symposium maritime à Gand mardi dernier (voir article à la page 3).
