    DFDS Tor Line a passé une commande au constructeur naval allemand Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft pour trois nouveaux navires rouliers pur fret. L’armement a en outre pris une option sur cinq unités du même type. Il s’agit de navires dont la capacité est supérieure de près de la moitié à celle des plus grands navires de la flotte actuelle de l’opérateur ro/ro et qui pourront atteindre une vitesse de 22 noeuds. Les nouvelles unités seront en premier lieu affectées aux services entre Esbjerg au Danemark et Immingham au Royaume-Uni (le service “BrittanniaBridge”) et entre Gand et Göteborg en Suède (“EuroBridge”). Le premier navire de la nouvelle série sera mis en service en septembre 2003.

Structurellement, l’entreprise va mieux, mais la dette demeure encore très élevée, trop en tout cas pour que Nissan et Renault SA, qui détiennent chacun 22,5% des actions, ne puissent envisager un rapprochement avec Volvo Truck. Nissan Diesel a d’ailleurs annoncé un rapprochement dans les moteurs de moyenne cylindrée avec son concurrent Hino (voir l’encadré).
