- In the first quarter the traffic of goods in the port of
Ancona increased by +21.7%

- Recovery of +24% of passengers

The Port Authority of the Central Adriatic Sea has made
I note that in the first quarter of this year the traffic of goods
in the ports of Ancona and Ortona recorded double growth
figure compared to the first quarter of the pre-pandemic year of 2019,
with a + 12% for the port of Ancona and a + 26% for the port of Ortona.-
- In particular, in the first three months of this year in Ancona the
total freight traffic amounted to 2.71 million
tons, with an increase of +21.7% on the first trimester of 2021
when the goods handled were 2.23 million tons. In
Doric airport was positive the trend of each
type of goods: 869 thousand tons of
petroleum products handled by the Falconara refinery
Maritime (+25.6%); solid bulk grew by +134.3%
going from 65 thousand to 152 thousand tons, with a linked increase
especially the handling of cereal products and
metals, the latter intended for the manufacture of the Marche and
Central Italy. Container traffic was also positive at 42,107
teu (+19.7%). The goods transported in the Tir totaled 1.38
million tons (+14.3%) confirming the role of the port of
Ancona in the motorways of the sea thanks to the strengthening of the lines
for the Greek ports of Patras and Igoumenitsa and the good performance of the
freight traffic on the line to Albania.

- In addition, the port authority has specified that in Ancona the traffic
passengers, in the comparison between the first quarter of 2021-2022, has
showed an increase of +24% reaching 76,659 people on board and
landed, a figure that remains lower than the first quarter of the
2019 when the passengers were 96,800.

- As for the port of Ortona, in the first quarter of 2022 the
freight traffic was 320 thousand tons, with a
growth of +13.3% on the same quarter of last year, with the
stable liquid goods (83 thousand tons) while the
dry bulk (238 thousand tons, +20.4%) driven by products
metallic and cereals.
