-
The "Trieste & Monfalcone" has become operational
Blue Agreement", the voluntary agreement aimed at reducing
significantly the emissions into the atmosphere produced by ships from
cruise and ro-ro that climb the two ports managed by the Authority
of Port System of the Eastern Adriatic Sea. The agreement is
was signed today in Trieste, at the Lloyd's Tower, by the
shipping companies Costa Cruises, MSC, DFDS and Ulusoy.-
- The document, inspired by a model already activated in
other Italian ports, provides that, voluntarily, the ships already
in the phase of approach to the ports, to the mooring, and in the phase of
removal, use a fuel with a low sulfur content.
With this mode the emissions are lower than what
it would normally be allowed by law. The aim of the initiative is,
therefore, to further reduce the environmental impact generated by the
port traffic on the urban fabric of cities, to the benefit
of the citizens who reside there and of the air quality in
general.
