Wärtsilä Corporation today announced a change in negative estimates of the volume of business that the Finnish group will record total this year. During the presentation of the results from the first quarter of 2011 Wärtsilä had indicated that for the full financial year was expected to increase by 3-5% of net sales. The new forecast indicates a decline of 0-5% of the turnover of the entire 2011. This expected decline - Wärtsilä has explained - is related to a weakening of the market for services to the maritime sector and a slowdown of the industry's development of nuclear energy more pronounced than expected.
Wärtsilä has however confirmed that the growth in EBIT for the full 2011 is about 11%.
The Finnish group has reported that, however, the level of new orders is high and that in the second quarter of this year rose 5% to 1,170 million euros compared to 1,117 million euros in the second quarter of 2010 and increased by 20% compared to 979 million euros in the first quarter of 2011.
