Today the Committee of management of the Authority of Harbour System of the Western Ligurian Sea has approved the results of the procedure of contest for the entrustment in concession of the service of railway maneuver in the ports of call of Savona and Vado Ligure, that is awarded to Mercitalia Shunting & Terminal Srl at the end of a procedure to public evidence that has seen the participation of two economic operators. The concession, lasting five years, with possibility of renewal for another two years, has a maximum estimated value of approximately 22,6 million euros and will guarantee the continuity of an essential service for the railway operativity of the two ports of call.

The award offering, improved both in the technical and economic-financial profile with a downfall of 12.6% on the tariffs based on the race, provides an integrated model of management of the railway maneuver and traction ensuring an operating organization active 24 hours on 24, seven days on seven, solutions oriented to environmental sustainability through also the use of low-emission biofuels, digital systems for the management of the infrastructure and a maintenance plan.

Moreover, the Management Committee has expressed favorable opinion to the release of the concession in the port of Genoa, for a period of four years, in favor of Trasportounito Service Cooperativa Consortile relative to a surface discovered of approximately 6,300 square meters along the side lanes of the elevated harbour in correspondence of the Varco Ethiopia for the realization of a new regulated rest area destined to the heavy means. The intervention arises from the need to identify an alternative solution to the areas currently used at the Scientific and Technological Park of Erzelli, interested from the start of the works for the new university pole, thus ensuring operational continuity to the enterprises of the road haulage that operate daily in service of the port of Genoa.
