Yesterday in China, the Grimaldi group took delivery of the Grande Oriente, new ship built by China Merchants Heavy Jiangsu Industries which is the twelfth pure car unit and truck carrier ammonia ready, i.e. prepared for the future Use of ammonia as a zero-emission alternative fuel of carbon, commissioned by the Neapolitan shipping company.

Like her twins already in service, namely Grande Shanghai, Greater Sweden, Greater Michigan and Greater England, the new ship is 220 meters long, 38 meters wide meters, has a gross tonnage of 93,145 tons and a speed cruising speed of 18 knots. On its 14 decks it can carry both electric vehicles and those powered by fossil fuels, for A maximum capacity of 9,000 CEU.

The Grand Orient will make its journey on the Asia-Europe service, with 700 linear meters of cargo rolling stock and over 6,200 cars departing in the coming days from Taicang (China) to Portbury (United Kingdom).
