
Last month, freight traffic in the port of Barcelona
amounted to 5.65 million tonnes, with a decrease of -6.5% on the previous year.
July 2025. The decline was mainly determined by the
by the contraction in the volumes of miscellaneous goods which stood at 3.98
million tonnes (-7.8%), of which 2.86 million tonnes of
containerized goods (-10.5%) made with a handling of
containers of 300,961 TEUs (-13.2%) - including 187,352 TEUs in
import-export (-4.9%) and 113,608 TEUs in transit (-24.1%) - and 1.12
million tonnes of other miscellaneous goods (-0.1%). Declining
also the traffic of new cars, equal to 57,665 vehicles (-6.5%), as well as
such as liquid bulk cargo with a total of 1.34 million
tons (-5.3%), of which 846 thousand tons of hydrocarbons
(-21.4%) and 495 thousand tons of other cargo (+45.7%). Bulk
dry waste amounted to 328 thousand tons (+6.6%). In the field of
passengers, cruise traffic recorded a decisive
increase of +16.9% rising to 530 thousand passengers, while that of the
ferries decreased by -4.4% to 259 thousand units.
In the first seven months of 2026, the Catalan port of call
handled 40.62 million tons of goods, up by
+1.9% on the same period of last year, which was
was determined by the increases recorded in all types
of traffic. As for containers, the total of 21.32
million tons, marked an increase of +1.5% with a
container handling which amounted to 2,227,887 TEUs
(+1.5%), of which 1,271,142 TEUs in import-export (-1.6%) and 956,745 TEUs
in transit (+6.0%). Other miscellaneous goods amounted to 7.17
million tons (+0.7%). The handling of new cars is
was equal to 444,029 vehicles (+4.6%). Both bulk cargo
liquid and solid ones, respectively equal to 9.87
million (+2.7%) and 2.26 million tons (+5.3%). Cruise passengers
there were 2.30 million (+7.3%) and 929 thousand ferry passengers
(+0,5%).
