Last month, container traffic in the port of Algeciras amounted to 380 thousand TEUs, with a decrease of -11.4% on July 2025 which was determined by both the reduction in of the preponderant share of traffic, that made up of containers being transhipped on international routes that amounted to to 290 thousand TEUs (-11.6%), and by the drop in transhipment traffic national level, which stood at 37 thousand TEUs (-7.9%), and of containers in import and export, respectively 27 thousand TEUs (-11.5%) and 26 thousand TEUs (-13.2%). The total weight of the containerized goods handled from the Spanish port of call to July 2026 was 4.22 million tonnes (-7.1%) on a total freight traffic of 9.03 million tons (+5.2%).

In the first seven months of 2026, container traffic 2.76 million TEUs, with a progression by +1.1% over the January-July period last year. Containers in international transit totaled 2.15 million TEUs (+4.4%), those in national transit 239 thousand TEUs (-21.3%), containers imported 197 thousand TEUs (+4.8%) and those in exports 177 thousand TEUs (-2.4%). The total weight of the containerized goods resulted in 30.2 million tons (-3.3%) out of a total freight traffic of 59.07 million tons (-0.6%).
