Avondale earnings up Avondale Industries, Inc.has reported results for the first quarter of 1999 that included net income of $7.5 million, or $0.56 per diluted share. That compares to net income of $5.3 million, or $0.37 per diluted share for the same period in 1998 Hvide reports first quarter loss Hvide Marine Incorporated today reported a net loss of $9.1 million or $0.59 per diluted share for the quarter ended March 31, 1999. In the year-earlier period, Hvide had net income of $6.5 million or $0.39 per diluted share after an extraordinary item. "Frank meeting" on fate of Kværner Philadelphia The Philadelphia Inquirer reports there was a "very frank" meeting in London this week between Pennsylvania officials and the head of the Kværner Group. Mais le groupe belge contrôle désormais à 100% l'armement pétrolier Euronav, ce qui a toujours été son objectif. Katoen Natie implanterait un petit terminal polyvalent à Terneuzen Le groupe Katoen Natie/Seaport Terminals signerait dans les tout prochains jours un contrat avec l'autorité des ports zélandais et le groupe Dow Chemical Benelux pour l'aménagement d'un petit terminal à containers polyvalent qui serait implanté dans la lagune à marée du Braakmanhaven, où se trouvent actuellement deux jetées où accostent de petits navires de mer desservant l'entreprise chimique en question. Le patron du groupe KTN/SP, Fernand Huts, se refuse pour l'heure à tout commentaire à ce sujet, ayant l'habitude de réserver ce type d'information pour ses conférences de presse. Dachser entre à 70% dans le capital de Graveleau Comme prévu (voir LL du 28/4), le groupe allemand Dachser vient de prendre une participation - de 70% - dans le capital du groupe français Transports Graveleau. Les deux entreprises conserveront chacune leur identité propre, mais elles travailleront désormais avec le souci de créer un effet de réseau à l'échelle de l'Europe. L'application de la législation douanière européenne source de paperasserie sans précédent La nouvelle procédure douanière, en matière de dédouanement de tous types de marchandises pour les exportateurs basés en Belgique, entrera en application à partir du 1er mai. La douane belge a cependant opté pour une application permanente dans l'article 161 en question, avec deux possibilités de dérogation. Et ce sont précisément ces mesures de transition qui sont actuellement la cause de cette paperasserie sans précédent dans les bureaux de douane.
