Today, the Port Authority of La Spezia has given the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection Ligure (ARPAL) a mobile unit for monitoring the impact of air and noise pollution in port areas and adjacent.
The mobile unit, equipped with high-tech equipment and advanced technology, will ensure the proper monitoring of the impact air pollution and noise through specific procedures contained in an "agreement of cooperation regarding the monitoring of air quality impacts arising from port activities strictly "signed today by President of the Port Authority, Lorenzo Forcieri, and Fabrizia Colonna, head of the Operations Department ARPAL Territory of La Spezia.Upon delivery of the vehicle were also Franco Palmieri, director of the Department of ARPAL Spezia, and Giancarlo Leven, head of physical agents and air pollution ARPAL the Department of La Spezia.
"It's half art - said Forcieri - which will constantly monitor the air quality and noise levels. In this way we confirm the commitment and attention by the Port Authority to improve the environment and quality of life of citizens. With this tool, we will be able to act promptly in case of emergencies or exceeded normative indices.
ARPAL will provide its expertise and professionalism to carry out the monitoring program and the premises for the conduct of activities of common interest. The results and data, validated by ARPAL are then made available to local authorities and will be published later.
The partnership agreement stipulates that a minimum of four annual campaigns of atmospheric monitoring and noise monitoring, a number that can be varied but, for example, in relation to any critical or local requirements of the Ordinance Assessment (EIA Environmental Impact Assessment) to the Port Master Plan. In the remaining months, ARPAL can use the unit for environmental monitoring for the City of La Spezia and the Province of La Spezia.
