In the first half of 2011 the Italian company Saipem has posted a net profit of 438 million euros on revenues of 6.021 billion euros, with increases of 15.3 and 11%, 8% over the first half of last year. EBITDA amounted to 1,013 million euros (+17.2%) and operating profit to 711 million euros (+13.4%).
In the second quarter of this year the company achieved a net profit of 225 million euros on revenues of 3.067 billion euros, with increases of 13.6 and 11%, 7% over the same period of 2010. EBITDA was 518 million euros (+14.3%) and operating profit of 364 million euros (+10.0%).
In the first six months of 2001 the company has invested 561 million euros (782 million in the first half of 2010). Net debt at June 30, 2011 amounted to 3.399 billion euros, an increase of 136 million euros compared to December 31, 2010 primarily due - Saipem has explained - the investment period and the distribution of dividends, largely compensated from cash flow from operations.
In the first half of this year, Saipem was awarded new contracts worth 6.006 billion euros (3.098 billion euros in the second quarter), a decrease of 14.9% compared to 7.059 billion euros in the first half of 2010 ( 4.381 billion euros in the second quarter of 2010).
The backlog at June 30 stood at 20.49 billion euros (20.459 billion euros at March 31, 2011 and 20.404 billion euros at June 30, 2010), of which 6.432 billion euros in the Engineering & Construction Offshore in 9735 'Engineering & Construction Onshore Drilling in 4,323.
