The 1500's genoese students "they have adopted" portacontainer and the cruise ships of group MSC



With "Let's adopt to ship - We adopt a ship" five hundred students of the genoese high schools will follow the travel of a ship discovering and deepening in way alive and interesting very many aspects of the shipping, between which the technologies of navigation, geography of the routes, the globalization of the commerce, the economy of the transports, the international law, until the more particular phenomena as containerizzazione and the intermodalità, the markets of the raw materials and the industrial produced ones, the industry of the vacations in cruise, the multinationality of the crews, the meteorology and the protection of the marine atmosphere.

This educational project, introduced this morning in the port of Genoa on board of cruise ship MSC Poetry, is devised in the within of the initiatives of Genoa Port Center (GPC), educational-exhibition center of the port of intentional Genoa from the Province of Genoa. In order to put into practice the initiative Genoa Port Center has involved the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), second company of container vessels to the world, MSC Cruises, one of the main world-wide crocieristici players, the marine agency the Ships, general agent in Italy of armament MSC, Voltri Terminal Europe (VTE), main terminalista of the genoese port, Marine Stations, fleeting societies that the landing place of the genoese port of call manages, Harbour Authority and the Harbour office of Genoa; and then still the Faculty of Economy of the Transports, than with Istituto Nautico and to Centro Stella Maris, supplies the general acquaintances of the context and facilitates teachers and students to approach itself these topics in the picture of an experimentation that the regional scholastic Office certifys as consistent to the enforced reform of the Didactics of the advanced ones; at last the CNR and the Ansaldo Foundation that offer to the possibility of didactic deepenings through their structures and their experts.

To this first edition of the project 12 genoese advanced medium institutes participate: altogether 24 classes of the biennium for a total of 500 students and 130 teachers. The classes are bound together to some ships of the MSC since their departure from the port of Genoa and, thanks to the information supplied from the company, to the use of Internet and the deepenings suggested from the university, of it follow the route and of it they know the various aspects on the base of specific interdisciplinari units of learning elaborated by the class councils. Al term of the travel, the classes are received by VTE and Marine Stations and are accompanied to live the emotion to assist to the arrival of the ship, to visit the terminal and to meet the representatives of the company of navigation and the crew.

The majority of the institutes that participate to the project follows portacontenitori ships of MSC that make the route America Mediterranean-South, while the tourist and hotel institutes follow the MSC ships on board Cruises under the profile of the organization of the vacation of the passengers and the services of catering.
