Wednesday to Livorno will hold an international workshop on the weather innovation for marine navigation


next Wednesday to Livorno, on board of the ferry Mega Express Two di Corsica Ferries, will hold a scientific workshop on the innovation weather for marine navigation in the within of international plan COSMEMOS (Cooperatives Satellite navigation for MEteomarine MOdelling and Services) that Picture of Search and managed from the European Agency for satellite navigation (GSA is financed in the within of the seventh Program) and is directed to develop to new solutions for the acquisition and the elaboration of the data weather in sea that take advantage of the new signs of the European system of satellite navigation Galileo. This new class of meteorological information will afford to develop a series of innovative services for marine navigation with the purpose to improve of safety and to reduce of the fuel burnups, therefore the costs, thanks to the services of weather-routing, that is meteorological optimization of the routes. The event is organized from the LaMMA Consortium, that it is participated by the National Research Council and by the Tuscany Region.

Between the aspects more innovative than COSMEMOS, that they will be introduced to the workshop, is also new systems of collection and weather elaboration of data. "COSMEMOS - Alberto Ortolani has explained, LaMMA- investigator has given the opportunity to us to on board test a cooperative outline for the collection of the coming data from the instruments of the boats, so as to more give back to the final customers a detailed meteorological information. In the plan we have moreover had a chance for experience some techniques of measure from mobile platform, which a ship, completely new, based on sensors that try the signs of satellite navigation, GPS and Galileo, in order to extract meaningful marine information weather, like the height of wave and the vertical profiles of temperature and humidity of the air. The elaborations of the new data traffics could be integrated, with opportune techniques of assimilation, in the models weather to high resolution, like those already operating to the LaMMA, in the optical of an ulterior improvement of the forecasts weather-navy for the creation of new services for navigation".
