Luxembourg's CLdN has signed an agreement to buy the entire capital of Seatruck Ferries, a shipping company of the Danish group Clipper operating ro-ro services in the Irish Sea with a fleet of eight ships. Acquisition is subject to approval by the Irish Antitrust Authority, green light that the parties believe will come by the end of this year.
Following the transfer of ownership, Seatruck Ferries will keep its own brand and will continue to be led by current CEO Alistair Eagles. A transaction completed, the clipper group will concentrate the its focus on its core business of maritime transport of dry bulk operated with a fleet of 75 vessels used mainly within the three pools Clipper Handy, Clipper Emerald and Clipper Bulkhandling.
Currently CLdN has a fleet of over 20 ro-ro ships employed in the connections between the ports of Zeebrugge, Rotterdam, London, Killingholme, Liverpool, Dublin, Cork, Gothenburg, Esbjerg, Santander and Porto. In addition, the Luxembourg company has a fleet of 4,500 trailers and containers and also performs activities terminals in the ports of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Belgium.
