    La progression de trafic la plus importante qu'a enregistrée le port de Zeebrugge au cours du premier semestre de l'exercice en cours se situe dans le secteur des containers, avec 5,8 mio. de t (+ 16,9%). Toutefois, il importe de préciser que ces statistiques couvrent les containers manutentionnés en lo/lo, donc aux deux terminaux OCHZ et FCT et en ro/ro, aux terminaux de Sea-Ro Terminals, de CTO et de P&ONSF. Il s 'avère que la progression est nettement plus importante du côté du transroulage, soit 20%, ceci grâce notamment à l'apport du trafic de StoraEnso avec ses grands containers que sont les "Storaboxes". Dans le cas de la manutention en lo/lo, la progression est de 14,5%.
  • La BNB voit des opportunités pour le port d'Ostende
    Au cours de la deuxième partie des années quatre-vingt-dix, l'activité portuaire d'Ostende a dû faire face à plusieurs contretemps: l'armement public RMT avait cessé ses activités et la marine, à l'exception de quelques services, avait déménagé vers Zeebrugge. Cela a entraîné une importante réduction du nombre d'emplois, ce qui à court terme n'a pas pu être compensé par de nouvelles initiatives. Il ressort toutefois de l'étude de la Banque Nationale concernant l'importance économique de la zone portuaire d'Ostende, basée sur des données de l'exercice 1998, que la communauté portuaire d'Ostende travaille à son avenir. D'importants investissements publics ont été réalisés ou inscrits au budget. "Cela offre des perspectives pour attirer de nouveaux trafics", indique le document de la Banque Nationale.
  • SNCB: les projets se multiplient; d'où viendront les fonds?
    Les vacances seront pour le moins studieuses dans les bureaux de la SNCB, pour ne pas dire fébriles. Le plan décennal d'investissements doit - en principe - être remis le 30 septembre prochain à la ministre des Transports et de la Mobilité Isabelle Durant, et les demandes en nouvelles infrastructures ne font que croître. Entre Bruxelles, Namur et Charleroi, avec un projet de nouvelle ligne pour éviter la mise à quatre voies des infrastructures actuelles. Mais aussi entre Landen et la LGV. Et surtout dans la zone portuaire anversoise: liaison Rive gauche/Rive droite et deuxième accès ferroviaire au port d'Anvers. Enfin, il se confirme que le TGV ne passera pas à Bruxelles-National avant le raccordement de l'aéroport à la ligne Bruxelles-Anvers.
