Le parti écolo Agalev trouverait ainsi un allié en la personne de F. Traen, président de la MBZ, société qui exploite le port côtier belge. Dans une tribune libre qu'a publiée notre confrère "De Standaard", F. Traen développe la théorie selon laquelle force est de constater que dans ce débat sur l'expansion portuaire anversoise, on ne parle jamais de Zeebrugge. Un village doit disparaître alors que ce port côtier dispose toujours d'un grand terminal à containers pratiquement vide, présentant une profondeur d'eau devant quai de 16m. Selon le président de la MBZ, Zeebrugge a une position en bordure de mer comparable à celle de la Maasvlakte.
