Une forte baisse par rapport aux 3.550 mio. de 1999 (88 mio. d’EUR), principalement à cause de la diminution de valeur des actions GTS.

    “Nous avons adopté une politique très conservatrice dans les finances compte tenu de tous les scénari possibles élaborés pendant le dernier exercice et celui en cours. 2000 et 2001 sont dès lors des années charnières nécessaires pour changer de cap et jeter les bases d’une nouvelle entreprise”, a déclaré le CEO, Frans Rombouts, en commentant les résultats financiers de La Poste. L’entreprise publique a réalisé un chiffre d’affaires de 1,7 mia. d’EUR et une perte nette de 277 mio. d’EUR. Cette dernière est due aux provisions pour le plan social, devant ensemble avec le plan stratégique garantir l’avenir de La Poste.

    La tension monte dans les milieux maritimes américains, suite à la publication du budget de l’administration Bush pour l’exercice 2002, budget conditionné par une politique de réduction des coûts, ce dont le secteur maritime fait les frais. Dans ce programme budgétaire figurent notamment l’élimination du financement du Fonds XI pour la construction navale qui intervient en tant que garantie pour des prêts. Il s’avère que la Maritime Administration (MarAd) est ramenée à une portion congrue, tandis que l’organisation Army Corps of Engineers, qui a charge des dragages et du maintien des chenaux d’accès maritimes fédéraux, voit ses moyens financiers considérablement réduits.
