Le groupe, né de la joint-venture à 50/50 entre l’opérateur hambourgeois Eurokai et son concurrent brêmois BLG, a traité l’année dernière un trafic global de 7,66 millions de TEU, en hausse de 20,5% par rapport à l’exercice précédent (1999 a été la première année d’activité d’Eurogate). Mais sous l’effet de la concurrence accrue et de son impact sur les tarifs, le chiffre d’affaires n’a progressé “que” de 11,6% (de 580,89 à 648,50 millions de DEM) et le bénéfice net de 4,4% (de 40,22 à 41,99 mio. de DEM). Exprimé en part du chiffre d’affaires, ce bénéfice net a reculé de 6,9% à 6,5%.
