L’organisation patronale parlait d’une fermeture à durée indéterminée. Ce conflit s’est considérablement durci ces derniers jours et pourrait bien avoir des répercussions catastrophiques pour l’économie américaine. L’administration Bush suit la situation de très près, mais n’a pas encore manifesté l’intention d’intervenir. Les bateliers ne projettent pas d’actions musclées contre la navigation dominicale Lors de la réunion organisée vendredi dernier par l’Union des Armateurs belges de Navigation fluviale et rhénane (VBR) à Anvers (voir LL 28/9), les bateliers présents ont fait savoir qu’ils ne sont pas partisans d’actions “musclées” - comme le blocage d’écluses et de voies d’eau - dans leur lutte contre la réintroduction de la navigation dominicale.
