    Au cours des six premiers mois de l’année, le transbordement maritime dans le port de Gand a reculé de 2,74% comparé au premier semestre 2001. Le volume total des entrées et sorties a atteint 11,46 millions de tonnes, soit une baisse de 322.000 tonnes par rapport à l’an dernier. Le trafic à la sortie s’est pourtant fortement redressé et affiche une hausse de 16,1%. Mais cela n’a pas suffi pour compenser la baisse de 6,5% des volumes à l’entrée. Les résultats ont été particulièrement décevants dans le secteur des diverses conventionnelles. Le mauvais résultat final est presqu’entièrement imputable à l’arrêt des importations - par la voie maritime - de slabs pour le compte de Sidmar.
