Le service containérisé entre Anvers et Liège va être relancé Suite à une interruption de quatre ans, le service containérisé régulier entre Liège, Anvers et Rotterdam sera relancé le 2 septembre prochain (voir LL du 7/6/02). Le service sera exploité sur base de deux départs par semaine vers Anvers et deux vers Rotterdam. Les containers destinés pour ou provenant de Rotterdam seront transbordés à Deurne sur le terminal qui sera exploité par la société GCT, une filiale récemment créée de la firme Gosselin World Wide Moving. Le trafic containérisé Anvers/Etats-Unis va devenir une “smart and secure tradelane” (SST) Les principaux opérateurs de terminaux de par le monde, à savoir Hutchison Port Holdings, PSA Port Holdings et P&O Port Holdings, qui représentent ensemble 70% du trafic containérisé mondial, ont adhéré aux Smart and Secure Tradelanes (SST), le projet de sécurisation de l’autorité américaine axé sur le fret maritime. Grâce à ce projet, les ports où ces opérateurs traitent des containers, dont Anvers, peuvent quasiment automatiquement obtenir le statut green lane. Dans la technologie nécessaire, développée par l’entreprise américaine Savi, des étiquettes, des systèmes de verrouillage et des fréquences radio spéciaux, ainsi que l’internet, jouent un rôle crucial.
