Today a delegation of the Turkish shipbuilding company Kuzey Star Shipyard met in Damascus the leadership of the Syrian General Authority for Ports and Customs to carry out the strategic agreement signed between the two parties to establish ashipyard integrated in the port of Tartous. During the meeting, the measures taken by the signing of the agreement were examined, the ongoing implementation procedures were discussed and the most important challenges and obstacles which can be faced with the phases of implementation of the project and the mechanisms to speed up the work according to the approved timetable were identified.(of 15 January 2026).

The parties underlined the importance of the project as one of the largest investment projects in the Syrian maritime sector and as a strategic step towards the creation of a Syrian naval industry in accordance with international standards, strengthening at the same time the capabilities of Syrian ports, creating jobs and transferring modern experiences and technologies to the national paintings.
