Last June, cargo traffic in the port of Koper suffered a sharp drop of -18.9% on the same month in 2025 being 1.8 million tonnes. The reduction was generated by the contraction in volumes in all the main segments commodity products. In the container sector, the following have been handled 873 thousand tons (-8.7%), in that of rolling stock 131 thousand tons (-6.7%) and in the other miscellaneous goods sector 43 thousand tons (-64.4%). The decline in liquid bulk cargo was marked totaled 291 thousand tons (-22.3%), as well as that of dry bulk cargo stood at 464 thousand tons (-26,5%).

In the second quarter of 2026, the Slovenian port of call Fifth consecutive decline in quarterly traffic having handled a total of 5.3 million tonnes, with a decrease of -5.6% over the April-June period of 2025. The containerized goods alone amounted to 2.4 million tons (-8.8%). The rolling stock amounted to 409 thousand tons (-8.6%) and other miscellaneous goods to 209 thousand tons (-24.0%). The Dry bulk cargo decreased by -2.0% to 1.1 million tonnes, while liquid loans increased by +4.5%, rising to 1.1 million tons.

In the first half of this year, total traffic was 10.5 million tonnes, down -4.8% on the first half of 2025. In the field of miscellaneous goods, both goods in containers (4.8 million tons, -5.4%), both rolling stock (736 thousand tons, -9.1%) and other miscellaneous goods (504 thousand tons, -5.4%). Solid bulk amounted to 2.2 million tonnes (-11.0%) and those liquid to 2.2 million tons (+6.1%).
