Le tonnage transporté a atteint 35,91 millions de tonnes, ce qui représente une petite perte de 127.000 tonnes ou 0,4% par rapport à l’exercice 2000 (36,04 mio. de t). Exprimée en prestations de transport, l’activité navale sur le canal Albert et les voies navigables campinoises a légèrement progressé, avec une hausse de 53,4 millions tonnes-kilomètre ou 2% à 2,76 milliards de tonnes-kilomètre (contre 2,70 mia. de t.km en 2000). Le DvS s’est montré satisfait “que les gains de trafic des années précédentes ont pu être maintenus” malgré un certain ralentissement de l’économie. La construction de nouveaux murs de quai a indéniablement contribué aux bons résultats.
