Event of the maritime-port community of Trieste to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the invention of the container
The book "At the beginning of the container: Lloyd Triestino and the lines for Australia" by Sergio Bologna will be presented

The publication edited by Sergio Bologna wants to be an opportunity for reflection on the development of a technique intermodal that has been instrumental in creating a market global, but above all wants to give recognition to those who had already intuited at the end of the 60s the great future that this innovation would have brought in the transport cycle of goods. Through the work of investigation on unpublished sources of a group of researchers coordinated by Professor Bologna, a story that winds through Trieste, London, Hamburg, Genoa and Sydney, why the first full container ships of Italian flag they were used on the route to Australia. It was about technologically very advanced ships, in which they were used, for the first time in the commercial sector, computers and the satellite links reserved until then to the branch military. It is a page of history that does honor to the world Italian research, industry, shipping and ports.
The story will be completed by an exceptional testimony of a shipping operator who saw the birth of his office of Sydney the first full container connections on the North route Europe-Australia.
