- Fincantieri starts the construction of the first of
two cruise ships for TUI Cruises

Yesterday in the shipyard of Monfalcone of Fincantieri it was
kept the cutting of the first sheet of the first of two ships by
newly designed gas-powered cruise that will be
realized for TUI Cruises, a joint venture between the German group TUI
and the American Royal Caribbean Cruises. The ships, about
160,000 gross tons will be delivered in 2024 and
2026.-
- In addition to being able to take advantage of gas propulsion
natural liquefied, Fincantieri is also studying the possibility
to operate the two new ships with low-fuel biofuels in the future
Emissions. In addition, the units will be equipped with converters
catalytic (compliant with the Euro 6 standard) and a connection
electric from the ground that will ensure an almost free operation
of emissions while they are in port (about 40% of the time
operational). Finally, the ships will be equipped with a
innovative waste treatment even more efficient in
able to shred organic substances by thermal process.
TuI Cruises' goal is to offer the first cruises to
zero climate impact by 2030.
