Crown Cork & Seal Co., which invented the bottle cap 108 years ago, is carrying on a long tradition of automation with a program to integrate key elements of its supply chain throughout North America and overseas. At the request of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Chairman Rob Krebs, the National Industrial Transportation League held two informal shipper meetings in late January and early February in Portland, Ore., and Chicago.
