Buoni risultati per le linee di navigazione giapponesi

Tutti e tre i principali raggruppamenti dello shipping giapponese, cioè la K Line, la MOL e la NYK, hanno fatto segnare solidi risultati finanziari in relazione all'annata terminata al 31 marzo 2005.

I profitti netti della K Line, per 557 milioni di dollari USA, sono aumentati dell'80,3% rispetto all'anno precedente, sospinti dal miglioramento del 14,3% delle entrate operative della compagnia di navigazione sino a 7,71 miliardi di dollari. Dato che i suoi profitti operativi sono aumentati del 53% sino ad 1 miliardo di dollari, i suoi guadagni sulle vendite sono state pari ad un lodevole 16%. Non è chiaro quale ammontare delle entrate del gruppo derivi dalla divisione di navigazione di linea, ma l'80% è attribuibile al trasporto marittimo, che comprende la divisione petroliere, rinfusiere e trasporto auto. La compagnia di navigazione ha citato i significativi miglioramenti delle tariffe di nolo sulle proprie principali direttrici di traffico, così come i programmi finalizzati alla riduzione dei costi, quali fattori di progresso della propria situazione finanziaria.

Alla MOL è andata ancora meglio, avendo essa fatto segnare profitti netti per 911 milioni di dollari, con un aumento del 77% anno per anno. Ciò, sulla scorta dei guadagni del gruppo per 10,9 miliardi di dollari USA, che rappresentano un aumento del 17,7% rispetto alla sua prestazione del 2004. I profitti operativi sono migliorati dell'86% sino ad 1,6 miliardi di dollari, realizzando così floridi guadagni sulle vendite del 19,2%. La divisione contenitori del gruppo ha contribuito con il 34% alle entrate complessive e la prestazione del 2004 è stata agevolata dalla ripresa delle tariffe di nolo e dal miglioramento dei flussi dei carichi.

La NYK ha realizzato profitti netti per 664 milioni di dollari, con un aumento del 105% rispetto al 2003. Le entrate del gruppo sono balzate in alto del 14,9% sino a 14,96 miliardi di dollari. I suoi profitti operativi sono cresciuti del 75% sino ad 1,5 miliardi di dollari, aiutando così la NYK a realizzare un lodevole 14,2% di guadagni sulle vendite. Ciò, rispetto al 17,7% conseguito dalla AP Møller Maersk Group. La divisione di linea del gruppo ha contribuito con il 28% delle entrate complessive che sono aumentate del 19% sino a 4,2 miliardi di dollari.

Nella relazione finanziaria della NYK si legge: "La domanda favorevole è continuata su tutte le rotte, comprendendo Stati Uniti, Europa, Oceania, Asia ed America centro-meridionale. Questa domanda, unitamente ad un'offerta più ristretta, ha contribuito alla ripresa delle tariffe di nolo e ci ha consentito di raggiungere gli obiettivi inerenti alle entrate su ciascuna rotta".
