The Greek Global Ship Lease, a company chartering a fleet of
container ship, has abandoned its
strategy based on the purchase of second-hand ships to equip themselves
of newly built container racks. The company of
Athens, in fact, has announced that it has entered into contracts for the
Construction of ten medium-sized and hull container ships
wide with high hold capacity for reefer containers of the
total value of about 917 million dollars. The ships will be
delivered between the fourth quarter of 2028 and the first quarter of
2030. GSL has announced that, once taken over, the ten
units will be leased under multi-year contracts from the
average term of 6.7 years and that the rental rates will generate a
Adjusted EBITDA of approximately $665 million during the
duration of contracts.
