In the second quarter of 2026, freight traffic handled by the port of Rotterdam marked an increase of +2% over the same period in 2025 having been equal to 109.0 million tons. The growth was driven by the increases in bulk volumes, with solid bulk volumes having totalled 17.9 million tonnes (+8%), of which 6.7 million tonnes tons of minerals and scrap (-15%), 5.3 million tons of coal (+56%), 2.5 million tons of agricultural products (-4%) and 3.5 million tons of other dry bulk (+35%). The liquid bulk cargo totalled 49.3 million tons (+3%), including 25.7 million tons of oil crude oil (+1%), 12.1 million tonnes of petroleum products refined (+13%), 3.2 million tonnes of natural gas liquefied (-3%) and 8.3 million tons of other cargoes liquids (-5%). In the miscellaneous goods sector, the containers, with traffic of 33.6 million tons (-2%) and a handling of containers of over 3.6 million of TEU (0%). Rolling stock stable with 6.7 million tons (0%), while other miscellaneous goods fell by -6% to 1.5 million tons.

In the first half of 2026, the Dutch port of call handled a total of 212.0 million tons of goods, with a growth of +0.4% over the first six months of last year. The dry bulk cargo was 32.8 million tonnes (+1.7%), of which 12.1 million tonnes of minerals and scrap (-8.3%), 9.3 million tonnes of coal (+17.8%), 4.9 million tonnes of agricultural products (-14.2%) and 6.6 million tonnes of other loads (+18.5%). In the liquid bulk segment, the total was state of 98.5 million tonnes (+2.4%), of which 50.9 million tonnes tonnes of crude oil (+1.6%), 25.0 million tonnes of petroleum products (+11.5%), 6.4 million tonnes of gas liquefied natural waste (-1.7%) and 16.1 million tonnes of other bulk (-5.9%). Containerized traffic amounted to 64.8 million tonnes (-2.6%) with a handling of containers equal to 7.0 million TEUs (-0.1%). The rolling stock was equal to 13.0 million tonnes (+1.0%) and other miscellaneous goods to 2.9 million tons (-9.5%).
