Genova
July 31, 2026
The board of directors of the parent company Spinelli Srl has approved the sustainability budget 2025 which - it has evidenced the president of the group, Mario Sommariva, in the letter of presentation addressed to all the stakeholders - is supported by the conviction that "the measure of the success of an enterprise does not run out in the only economic-financial indicators, but also resides in the ability to create opportunities, promote inclusion and promote social progress in the contexts in which it operates. In this perspective - it has added - sustainability represents for us a key leverage of competitiveness and creation of value in the long term".
The company has announced that, despite the uncertainties authorized that have characterized most of the year slowing the investments of development on the medium and long term, in 2025 the value of production of the group (Spinelli Srl group leader and the subsidiaries Centro Servizi Derna, VTR, Terminal Rinfuse Ge, Consorzio Genova Distripark, Saimare) has exceeded 199 million euros, in increase of +5% regarding the previous year. The economic value distributed altogether was 185 million euros (equal to 99% of the total generated), for 58% absorbed by the suppliers - almost totally local (94%), of which 25% based in Genoa -, 31% from the employees, 6% from the community, 1% from the financiers and the remaining 4% went to the shareholders.
At 31 December last the group had 621 direct employees, for 98% full time and for 93% indefinitely, all framed with Ccnl, according to the metalworking categories, ports, transports and managers. In the course of 2025 the new recruitments were 61 (+48% compared to 2024), while the provision of continuing training engaged 1.660 hours.
On the environmental impact, among the main pillars of sustainability of the group, in 2025 emissions produced (NOx, PM, HC and CO) fell by -5.4%, in contrast to the economic growth of the activities and further digital advances in the management of waste produced by the activities (already fully traced), with the introduction of a software connected to the RENTRI ministerial portal. On an annual total of about 1,987 tons of waste, up by +2% compared to 2024, those classified dangerous are diminished of -4%, going to about 169 tons (8%), increased by +22% those destined for recycling and decreased by -78% those destined for landfill. Non-dangerous waste, on the other hand, was about 1.818 tons (92%), decreased by -24% those intended for landfill and increased by +14% those intended for recycling.
With regard to certifications, those already obtained have been confirmed: ISO 9001 quality management for all companies, environmental ISO 14001:2015 (Spinelli Srl, Voltri Terminal Repairs-VTR, Centro Servizi Derna, Terminal Rinfuse Genova), safety at work ISO 45001:2018 (Spinelli Srl, Centro Servizi Derna e VTR), while the ISO 3834:2021 for the welding of metal materials for the process of processing of containers in the workshop of Vignole Borbera.
In 2025, digitalisation was confirmed as one of the cornerstones of Spinelli's sustainability, which incorporated the European NIS2 directive for cybersecurity of activities, employees, customers and suppliers. In order to increase the level of protection by enhancing its efficiency, a new and unique technological infrastructure, replacing the previous systems, has been introduced weekly monitoring through Penetration Test. Also in the field of digitization, in 2025 it was further invested in the operating processes and the automated gate at the VTR storage, currently being tested.
