The president of the Port System Authority of the Seas Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian Sea, Paolo Piacenza, signed the decree approval of the executive project for the demolition of the former CIVAM, in the port area of Vibo Valentia, thus giving further impetus for the creation of a new area for the commercial logistics, adjacent to the Benghazi quay. The intervention, worth a total of 1.5 million euros, represents one of the interventions included in the Operational Plan Three-year period 2026-2028, adopted by the Management Committee on 18 June, as part of a broader development strategy of the port of Vibo Valentia Marina. The POT identifies, in fact, a articulated programme of works aimed at improving efficiency port infrastructure, strengthen the security of the maritime operations and consolidate the relationship between the airport and the territory.

After last month's approval of the project of technical-economic feasibility, within the current month will proceed with the publication of the tender with the aim of award of the works and their start by first half of October. The project involves the demolition of the old industrial warehouse of the former CIVAM and the subsequent arrangement of the area through the construction of new squares intended for port logistics. The redevelopment will allow to recover a space today characterized by conditions of degradation, transforming it into a functional area for the needs of the operational and commercial operations of the airport.
