For more than nine years, the port of Hong Kong had not recorded a year-on-year increase of at least +20% in monthly traffic of containers. Accentuated percentage growth that the port of call returned to scoring last month when it handled a total of 1.28 million TEUs, a volume that represents an increase of +22.1% on August 2025 and which, however, is A far cry from the record for the month of August set in 2008 with 2.17 million TEUs.

In the first eight months of 2026, containerized traffic total was 8.74 million TEUs, with a slight increase of +0.2% over the same period of last year.
