Crescono i traffici Mediterraneo-Estremo Oriente

Di tutte le rotte di linea del mondo, i traffici tra Estremo Oriente e Mediterraneo sono stati quelli a crescita più rapida, dal momento che negli ultimi cinque anni i volumi dei traffici in direzione est ed ovest sono aumentati rispettivamente del 54,6% e del 76,4%.

La Drewry Shipping Consultants ha stimato che nel 2004 le dimensioni complessive di tale traffico siano state rispettivamente di 881.000 TEU e 2,1 milioni di TEU, mentre per il 2005 e 2006 viene ravvisata una ulteriore notevole crescita (v. tabella).

La Cina è divenuta una potenza in questi traffici, rappresentando circa il 50% del mercato in direzione ovest e quasi il 30% di tutti i traffici movimentati in direzione est nel corso del 2004. In termini di volumi, essi ammontavano rispettivamente a più di 1 milione di TEU ed a circa 265.000 TEU.

Ciò, rispetto alle quote stimate di appena il 17% (114.000 TEU) in direzione est e del 33% (437.000 TEU) in direzione ovest nel 2001.

La continua rilocalizzazione in Cina di capacità produttiva da parte delle imprese europee, oltre agli enormi vantaggi concorrenziali che la Cina ha in termini di costo del lavoro e della produzione, suggeriscono che questa linea di tendenza continuerà.

Attualmente, le principali importazioni nel bacino del Mediterraneo da parte della Cina comprendono beni di consumo durevoli, abbigliamento, mobili, giocattoli e prodotti elettrici, mentre le componenti per auto e le attrezzature di telecomunicazione mostrano una recente salda crescita.

La varietà dei carichi è leggermente diversa nel settore del Mediterraneo Orientale/Mar Nero, in cui viene movimentato un valore maggiormente elevato di beni industriali, attrezzature di costruzione, ecc. Di conseguenza, la Corea del Sud ed i porti della Cina settentrionale tendono ad avere un profilo più alto nelle reti di servizio in atto.

In uscita, invece, le principali derrate movimentate consistono in prodotti chimici, resine, metalli di scarto e materiali da imballaggio quale la carta straccia, sebbene vi siano segnali secondo cui i vini, le derrate alimentari e certi prodotti di moda vengono spediti in volumi sempre maggiori man mano che aumentano i redditi a disposizione della classe media cinese che è in crescita.

Data la forte crescita della Cina e delle regioni del Mediterraneo Orientale, non sorprende affatto che molti dei nuovi servizi inaugurati e/o ripristinati nell'ultimo paio d'anni abbiano coinvolto scali diretti presso i porti di queste regioni. Tali sviluppi sono stati altresì alimentati dai crescenti livelli di congestione negli hubs portuali, in particolare nel bacino mediterraneo, al punto che i servizi di trasbordo e di raccordo nei porti come Gioia Tauro sono diventati meno affidabili e più costosi da effettuare.

Di conseguenza, gli operatori di linea Hapag-Lloyd, Norasia Shipping Services, P&O Nedlloyd, CMA CGM e MSC, hanno dato il via a collegamenti Estremo Oriente/Mediterraneo Orientale negli ultimi 18 mesi.

Il più recente sviluppo è consistito nel servizio congiunto della Norasia e della Hapag-Lloyd, che è divenuto pienamente operativo nello scorso mese di gennaio. Il servizio denominato ABS (Asia Black Sea), al quale la Norasia contribuisce con sei delle sette navi da 3.000/3.600 TEU impiegate, offre scali diretti a Shanghai, Ningbo, Keelung, Chiwan, Port Klang, Colombo (solo in direzione est), Damietta, Costanza ed Istanbul.

Attualmente, sono disponibili cinque partenze alla settimana da e per la regione del Mediterraneo Orientale, che prevedono almeno un porto turco in tutti i collegamenti. In totale, i cinque allacciamenti impiegano un quantitativo di spazi-containers annualizzato di ben oltre 500.000 TEU in direzione ovest (tenendo conto degli scali nei porti secondari ecc). equivalenti a circa il 16% di tutta la capacità impiegata dall'Estremo Oriente al Mediterraneo; quest'ultima è circa il doppio della quota dell'8,8% impiegata a gennaio del 2004.

Inoltre, la capacità su questo settore di traffico si incrementerà ulteriormente e la regione resterà sugli schermi radar di diversi vettori. Infatti, la Zim e la CSCL (China Shipping Container Lines) stanno per dare il via ad un nuovo servizio congiunto, con una frequenza iniziale di partenze quindicinale. Utilizzando navi da 2.600 TEU, il nuovo servizio farà scalo a Tianjin, Dalian, Qingdao, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Chiwan, Port Klang, Damietta, Pireo, Istanbul e Costanza.

Quanto alla Cina, non meno di 28 dei 36 servizi effettuati nell'ambito dei traffici Estremo Oriente/Mediterraneo/Estremo Oriente comprendono scali diretti presso i porti del continente cinese; in tale contesto, Shanghai, la regione meridionale di Shenzen (Chiwan, Shekou e Yantian) e Qingdao dispongono del maggior numero di partenze ogni settimana.

Dato il continuo sviluppo economico della Cina, il persistente impulso al suo profilo di traffico ad opera della sua appartenenza alla W.T.O., più il ritmo al quale l'area del Mediterraneo Orientale/Mar Nero si sta industrializzando e sta traendo vantaggi dalla più stretta integrazione con l'Unione Europea allargata, i traffici Mediterraneo/Estremo Oriente sembrano pronti per un sostenuto periodo di crescita
