Annata da record per le gru da piazzale

Nell'ambito del mercato globale delle gru da piazzale, nel 2006 è stata oltrepassata una pietra miliare, poiché nel corso dell'anno sono state consegnate più di 1.000 di queste unità. Una quindicina di produttori hanno consegnato complessivamente 917 RTGs e 124 RMGs.

Il totale di 1.039 unità si confronta con le 711 unità consegnate nel 2005, con un incremento del 47% da un anno all'altro; in tale contesto, le consegne di RTGs sono aumentate del 46%, mentre quelle delle RMGs hanno registrato un massiccio incremento del 113%.

Quest'anno nell'indagine effettuata da Cargo Systems è stata inclusa la Gottwald Port Technology a causa della sua consegna di ASCs (gru automatiche da impilaggio) all'Antwerp Gateway Terminal.

Tuttavia, l'annata esaminata ha assistito anche al ritiro della Samsung dal mercato delle gru da piazzale al fine di concentrarsi su altre attività. Nel contempo, la Hyundai, la Mitsubishi e la Sumitomo non hanno effettuato alcuna consegna di gru da piazzale nel 2006.

Una delle valutazioni in corso nell'ambito del settore attiene a quanto tempo ancora possa durare l'elevato livello di produzione di gru da piazzale.

Da un lato, vi è il naturale convincimento che esso debba sicuramente rallentare; dall'altro, tuttavia, si ammette che il livello programmato della crescita dei carichi e delle navi è tale che i terminals potranno farvi fronte solamente effettuando importanti modifiche e notevoli investimenti nelle attrezzature da movimentazione.

Per molti, ciò significa lo spostamento verso le gru da piazzale a cavaliere.

Le gru da piazzale di norma danno una maggiore resa per metro quadrato rispetto ad attrezzature per la movimentazione più mobili e molti terminals passano alle RTGs/RMGs quando ravvisano che sia probabile che il livello di crescita oltrepassi la capacità esistente.

Alcuni lo fanno in vista di una possibile automazione da qualche parte, ma la maggior parte dei volumi consegnati nel 2006 è stata fatta a siti tradizionali, laddove la decisione di prendere le gru da piazzale è stata la più semplice.

La Cina è risultata ancora una volta la destinazione del numero maggiore di gru, ma la crescita dal maggiore significato è stata quella delle cifre fatte segnare dalle consegne in Europa ed in Sudamerica.

Le gru consegnate in Europa sono aumentate dalle 49 del 2005 alle 159 del 2006, mentre in Sudamerica sono cresciute da 23 a 94.

Panama si è rivelata una vera e propria zona calda, con 51 gru consegnate da Reggiane e ZPMC.

La ZPMC ha assistito ad una crescente concorrenza da parte di altre società in Cina.

La Noell Cranes vi possiede un impianto affermato e ha consegnato 33 gru provenienti da esso nel 2006.

La Kalmar ha aperto una nuova capacità produttiva a Shanghai nella seconda metà dell'anno ed anche la Konecranes sta diventando una ditta sempre più affermata nel paese.

La Konecranes è divenuta la ditta dominante nel mercato degli Stati Uniti, provvedendo dall'Europa alle proprie ordinazioni per la Costa Orientale ed il Golfo del Messico e dalla Cina per quelle della Costa Occidentale.

Le consegne di Doosan alla PSA Singapore sono continuate nel 2006, con 62 RTGs - la più grossa ordinazione singola dell'anno - che hanno fatto seguito alle 60 unità consegnate alla PSA nel 2005.

Altre consegne significative sono consistite in 29 gru della Kalmar al Gateway Terminals in India, nonché in 24 unità della ZPMC allo ECT di Rotterdam, 21 a Felixtowe e 18 Dubai che hanno fatto seguito alle 36 consegnate l'anno scorso.

Quest'ultima ha fatto registrare ulteriori grosse consegne a Yantian, Shendong e Guangzhou.

Le quattro RMGs Konecranes consegnate alla nuova infrastruttura a Norfolk della APM Terminals sono state le prime di un'ordinazione complessiva di 30.

Nell'indagine di quest'anno, Cargo Systems ha chiesto informazioni sul numero di ruote delle RTGs.

Non tutti i produttori sono stati in grado di fornire questa informazione, ma la crescente linea di tendenza verso le 16 ruote è evidente.

Ciò si deve alle ridotte tracce dovute al peso che queste lasciano sulla superficie del terminal, il che rappresenta spesso un elemento da valutare quando si installano gru da piazzale in un terminal affermato.

Sono state altresì incluse informazioni sulla configurazione dello spreader laddove queste erano disponibili ed è chiaro che - contro le aspettative di molti - la popolarità dell'uso degli spreaders abbinati nelle gru da piazzale sta aumentando.
