
The research and analysis company Sea-Intelligence,
specialized in the containerized maritime transport segment,
has taken note of a recent important reorganization of the service network
on the east-west routes of the Gemini Cooperation, the
operating partnership between Danish shipping company Maersk
Line and the German Hapag-Lloyd which has been active since the beginning

Cooperation is implementing a reallocation of its fleet
systematically sacrificing market shares in terms of
capacity on the Trans-Pacific and Asia-North Europe routes for

Sea-Intelligence specified that, with regard to the route
Asia-North Europe, Gemini's market share has dropped
drastically from 25.7% in mid-May to 22.5% in the month
current and that this decline was caused by a
structural downsizing of the fleet on the AE3/NE3 service.
