Tomorrow in Sant'Agnello (Naples), starting at 9.30 am,
will hold the inauguration event of the Italy Branch of The
Nautical Institute, the international professional organization
for maritime professionals, based in the United Kingdom, founded in
1971 and present in over 50 countries. The inauguration of the section
will take place at the ITS Southern Maritime Academy
and the day will bring together international leaders in the sector,
politicians, representatives of maritime training centres and
trade associations to discuss priorities
Closely interlinked for the maritime sector: the transition
in the maritime industry and education, and
of maritime training. Discussions will focus on
challenges and opportunities arising from them: decarbonisation,
adoption of new technologies and alternative fuels, and the
development of skills, competences and cadres
training required by maritime training centres, academies and
institutions to support and incentivize them in the transformations of the
sector.
The day's work, which will end at
5.30 pm, will be opened by Walter Vervloesem (president of the Institute
Nautico), Gennaro Arma (president - Italian Nautical Section
Institute), Giuseppe Spera (Deputy Permanent Representative
of Italy at the IMO), Gianpaolo Dalla Vedova (senior VP -
Italy, Monaco and Malta - and legal representative for Italy -
Lloyd's Register), Giovanni Consoli (Deputy Secretary General
Assarmatori) and representatives of IAM Associated Instructors
Marittimi, SIRM Italia, GNV and Southern Maritime Academy.
"It is a great privilege - underlined the
Gennaro Arma, president of the Italian section of the
Nautical Institute - representing the Nautical Institute in Italy,
at a time of profound and constant transformation of the sector
maritime crisis, grappling with international geopolitical tensions and
generational change. Our goal is to provide the
maximum professional attention to the improvement of the standards of
professionals of the sea, maintaining the Nautical Institute as a
international centre of nautical excellence, promoting a high level of
standards of qualification, competence and knowledge among those who
experience the sea every day firsthand, and collaborate with the
government departments and other bodies interested in qualifications
with universities and other institutes and authorities
educational activities in the promotion of education and training in the
science and nautical practice".
