Meanwhile, yesterday the Iranian media released a statement the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran, Esmaeil Baqaei, who announced the continuation of negotiations between Iran and Oman, which has been underway for two months, to define a framework to ensure the safety of commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Baqaei specified that the two sides have reached an agreement on the geographical coordinates of the maritime corridor proposed for ship traffic. However, the ministry's spokesman Iranian has specified that a bilateral agreement between Iran and Oman will not be would automatically lead to a reopening of the Strait and that the potential agreement cannot in itself be interpreted as ensuring safe passage for ships in as the main sources of insecurity remain the deployment of in the area, the illegal maritime blockade of ports Iranian sanctions and other hostile measures against Iran and its interests.
